5 VLCC’s to be built by Bahri at Hyundai Samho Heavy IndustriesBahri, The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia has signed an agreement to build five VLCC’s and an additional five more optional VlCC’s with Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI).

The signing ceremony was attended by Eng. Ibrahim Abdulrahman Al-Omar, Bahri’s CEO and Mr. S. H. Ka, Hyundai’s Member of the Board & COO. Eng. Al-Omar said that the agreement was in line with Bahri’s plans to renew and increase its fleet to meet the requirements of both local and global markets.

The deliveries of the first five VLCC’s are due in 2017. These VLCC’s are designed to meet the latest international technical specifications and are fitted with fuel efficient and eco-friendly engines. Eng. Al-Omar also stated that this will place Bahri as the number one VLCC owner internationally.

This order for newbuilds will assure that Bahri stays competitive in the shipping market while supporting its efforts to increase its customer base and ensure efficient and reliable services.

Bahri has recently signed a 10-year agreement with Korea’s S-Oil Corporation. As per this agreement, it will transport crude oil cargoes on VLCCs from the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea to Ulsan in South Korea.
