Severe Storm Damages Shiploader at Brisbane
Severe weather over the weekend has knocked out the shiploaded at New Hope Corporation’s Queensland Bulk Handling coal terminal just outside Brisbane, the latest supply chain disruption to hit the Australian coal sector this year.
“The shiploader is currently inoperable, initial indications are that it could take several weeks for the shiploader to be repaired. During this time the terminal will not be capable of loading coal onto ships,” New Hope warned in a release today.
The port moved 7m tonnes of coal on 90 ships during the past financial year.
